Early in the morning, when the day is dawning…

Pat feels he’s a very luck man.

I’m still alive. Neglected this ‘ere blog for a few days now. Sorry one and all. I’ve been really busy selling stuff on ebay. I’m loving it, and this is causing a few issues. You see… I’m loving it so much that I get home every night, and walk around my flat spotting items to sell. I then dash to the laptop, take a few piccies, and bish-bosh… that there item is then available for the whole world to bid on! Over the last 4 days, I have sold 30 items, and increased my ‘escape fund’ by £350! The problem is, I haven’t staggered my fire-sale, so have been packaging up and posting all these items to randoms around the UK en-masse! The UK is currently in the middle of a blooming Royal Mail postal strike too… so I have no idea why I’m frantically worrying about my dispatch and delivery times! These items are unlikely to reach the winning bidders this side of Christmas anyhow!

I have now sold all my Xbox360 games, and a number of my DVDs. I’ve just sold a pair of Burton ‘Cartel’ snowboard bindings for £75 which was a bonus too. Also just dismantled my spare bed, and this is currently on ebay with 9 voyeuristic ‘viewers’ tracking the auction! I bloody love this ebay malarky!

It’s addictive selling pretty much everything I own!

ebay for dummies

My flat is cluttered. Cluttered with gadgets, junk, DVDs, games, and all the usual paraphernalia of any self-respecting bachelor boys crash-pad. I even have a ‘Slam-Man’ boxing trainer in the garage for gawds sake! This, as well as a lot of stuff that I’ve collected over the years, has never really been used. I slapped old ‘Slam-Man’ about a few times, then quickly lost interest and moved onto more vigorous pursuits, such as lying down on the couch and scratching my nuts in front of the TV.

I will be moving out of the flat at the end of January, and want to get rid of most of my possessions. Some items have already been earmarked by family and friends. Even ‘Slam-Man’ is off to a new home, in exchange for £75! All the money I make out of selling my stuff, is being stashed away into my ‘flee from the UK, and escape to NZ’ kitty.

I set up an ebay & paypal account the other day, so as to attempt a few cheeky online sales. I haven’t used ebay for years, and it’s definitely changed somewhat since I’ve been away. There are now loads of hidden charges, but I suppose on the plus-side, these charges have paid for a much more secure and professional site to allow for bidding and selling via online auctions.

Just today, I dipped my toe into ebay as a seller and put up several of my Xbox360 games for auction. Hopefully I will get a bit of cash for them over the next few days. One thing though… ebay don’t allow you to charge for postage and packing on media items such as DVDs and games, so that will be a slight cost. Need to go get me some jiffy bags! Laters.

Selling up, shipping out

There is a very talkative builder currently renovating the flat next door to me. He has taken a rather keen interest in my affairs, and virtually pushed me into handing my notice in the other week after only knowing me for 10 minutes!
I bumped into him outside my front door, and 20 minutes later I had him literally bellowing at me to change my “fu**ing life”. Very civil of him I must say… but also very perceptive!

To be honest, it’s refreshing coming across people like him. Not enough people in the UK are willing to chat to strangers, listen to their issues and chunter back openly with their views.

This evening, I heard my doorbell ring, opened the door to find him standing there. He has been sniffing around any items I’m looking at selling before heading off to NZ. We had been chatting about what I am looking to sell earlier in the morning. He waltzed on through the door and up the stairs into my lounge, and started to check out my furniture like an expert on the Antiques Roadshow. He made a beeline to my gaming chair, said “I’ll ‘ave that. How much d’ya want?” I wasn’t ready for this line of questioning. “Errr… I dunno. £15?” I ventured. I since did some research online tonight and found out it’s retailing at £60 in Argos. I’m gonna play hardball with him in the morning and up the ante with a £20 demand! That’s how I roll baby! Jeez, I need some practice at this delboy lark don’t I?

Anyhow, he wants a list of items I’m willing to sell. So tonight I knocked a draft list up… check out the current list on the ‘For Sale’ page of this ‘ere blog. Clicky here.

UPDATE: The gaming chair has gone. I wimped out and stuck to my original £15 promise! It was worth far more, but even so… that’s the first £15 of my big sell-off. Enough to buy a couple of baguettes in Heathrow airport awaiting my flight over to NZ in the new year!
