Ashen Skies

Starting to get a little concerned here me dears. I’m due to fly back to the UK via Los Angeles on Friday night (NZ time). However… as you may all be aware, there is a bit of a kerfuffle going on up in the skies, courtesy of a chappy named Eyjafjallajökull.

This Icelandic volcano has been erupting since last week and spewing ash high into the atmosphere. As a result, the good powers that be have closed vast chunks of European airspace, including the entire UK. Hmmmm… worrying.

I’m going back to the UK to attend my sisters wedding, and this is obviously something I can’t contemplate missing. Here’s hoping that the wind decides to change direction soon. I suppose at times like this, it really sinks in how far from pretty much anywhere New Zealand is! It’s pretty much air travel or bust from here.

Hi Simon – just wanted to wish you luck for your flight home, the news keeps changing but it sounds like you should get to London ok. Hope the wedding goes well and that you will be back in Auckland or at least NZ soon! Take care.
